Victor was born to parents Julius and Marie Haerens in Detroit, MI on June 7th, 1926. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda. He was devoted father to Denise Walt, Rita (Tom) Margitish, Victor (Rosanne) Haerens, Jeffrey Haerens, and the late Lisa Haerens. He will be greatly missed by his family, including 10 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandson.
He served in World War II in the Army as part of the Military Police and often shared his favorite memories of time spent in The Philippines and playing baseball. After the army, he spent his career at Mercury Metal Craft as a Sheet Metal Model Maker. He lived his life with a strong work ethic, which he passed down to his family.
Victor and Linda raised their 5 children in a loving home. Throughout his life, Victor kept busy through hobbies like woodworking and gardening. Everyone looked forward to his yearly tomato crop, and his green thumb will be missed by all! He took joy in the simple pleasures of life and was happy enjoying the comforts of his home. On a sunny day, he could often be found sitting outside enjoying the sun. He even found time in his retirement to babysit his great-grandchildren. When visiting, you could always depend on him to have a joke at the ready to lighten the mood.
Victor was a strong force that will be greatly missed by his entire family. He will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery in a private ceremony.
