

He was born Monday, November 2, 1942, in Doniphan, MO., to George and Berijean (Allen) Smith who both predeceased him; Berijean in 1999 and George in 2008. His father was 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and served our country during WWII.
He moved 32 times in his first 23 years of life and attended 16 Schools in 16 years. He earned his B.A. from the University of Maryland in History/Political Science/Econ, his M.A. from the University of Maryland in Education, and his Ph.D. form LaSalle University in Business Management. His first job was as a school teacher in Anne Arundel County, MD. From 1977 to 2004 he worked for GE Medical Systems as Manager of Nuclear Sales, Region Sales Manager, and Manager of Nuclear Sales & Product Development. From 2004 to 2006 he served as Senior Director of Research for CTI. Since 2006 he has served as the Senior VP of “everything” for UltraSPECT Inc. In July 2009, he and his business partner, Mark Alvarez, acquired BC Technical, Inc. with MS Equity Partners and has served as CCO since that time.
He was married April 1, 1967, to Miss Pamella Knight. They met in College Park, MD where both of their fathers had retired from the United States Air Force. Allen became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints August 15, 1973 and was Sealed in marriage for eternity to his wife, Pamella, in the Temple of our Lord in Washington D.C. on February 2, 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Pamella Smith; five children, Briana Popham and her husband, Petty Officer 1st Class, Jonathan Popham of the Coast Guard Air Station Washington D.C., Aubrey Forest and her husband Michael Forest of Mableton, GA., Alisha of Roswell, GA., Lorina Potter and her husband Richard Potter of Woodstock, GA., and Travis Smith of Roswell, GA.; one sister., Ms. Luanne Timke of Douglasville, GA.; six grandchildren, Devin Potter, Savannah Smith, Malcolm Potter, Richard Potter, Kameron Forest, and Rylan Forest; one niece, Amy Timke of West Palm Beach, FL., one great-nephew, Christopher Frye, two cousins, Denver Joplin and Larry Joplin and their families of Oxley, Mo.; his closest friends, Mark Alvarez of Alpharetta, GA, Kenneth Smith of Oconomowoc, WI; Bandmates Perry Collins, Bob Cleary, Dr. Jack Ziffer, Dr. Jack Ziffer, Dr. Ernie Garcia, Dr. Howard Lewin, Dwight Nicholson, John Felock; and His beloved dog Tia Bella.
He had over 4.7 Million air miles on NWA (1st Million Miler) and now over 1.1M on Delta. He had also achieved Lifetime Platinum Status at Marriott Hotels. He traveled to all 50 U.S. states and 48 other countries. He lived in southern Germany for 3 years, in East Anglia, and England for 3 years. His first 3 years of college were spent at the University of Maryland-Overseas Branch-RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall England. In England, he was known as “Smitty the DJ”. Each night he would hook my tape player to the phone in base housing and send the signal to the communications group, and they would “patch” the signal all over England and the continent to all service bases. He LOVED music and sang and played guitar for 1st time on radio at KWOC-AM –Poplar Bluff, MO at the age of 6. He played and sang for his own High School Senior Prom in Grand Rapids, MI. He visited the Magic Kingdom in Disney World 155 times; EPCOT-115 times; Disney-MGM Studios-76 times; Animal Kingdom-34 times; and Disneyland,CA-6 time. He was Tigger for his 50th birthday in EPCOT; Our family was the Grand Marshall Family in the Magic Kingdom parade on February 23, 1993. He played in the band the Thallium Stallions as the rhythm guitar player. He always said that he loved to work and could not stay retired.
A Public visitation will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Roswell Funeral Home on Mansell Road from 6pm-8pm.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Norcross Street in Roswell, GA. 2:30 graveside service.
