Angelica “Kitty” Thompson passed away on January 4, 2025, at the age of 96. She was born on July 31, 1928, in Belgium to the late Henrique and Maria Obels. Shortly after World War II, Kitty met the love of her life, William, while he was stationed in Belgium with the Merchant Marines. The couple welcomed their son, Harry in Belgium and later moved to Georgia.
While a devoted homemaker, Kitty also held several part-time jobs, with her favorite being at Richway, where she made her lifelong best friend, Rosemary. Kitty endured profound loss when her son Harry was involved in a car accident at the age of 16, which left him in a coma. She lovingly cared for him for three years until his passing.
After William’s retirement, Kitty and her husband found joy in cruising and traveling together. Kitty was a vibrant and active woman, enjoying painting, knitting, and crocheting in her earlier years. She had an innate ability to connect with people, making friends everywhere she went, and spent much of her later years enjoying time at the Roswell Senior Center.
Kitty was preceded in death by her beloved husband William, her son Harry and her brother and sister. She is survived by niece Nikki and family, Garrison and family, Kitty's dearly beloved friends Barbara, Brenda, Rosemary, as well as other cherished friends.
Kitty will be laid to rest at the Green Lawn Cemetery.
A service to celebrate Kitty’s life will be held on January 17, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home. Light refreshments and fellowship will be offered after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Kitty’s memory, https://www.alz.org/
