

Ann was born and raised in Arnoldsville, Georgia. As a young girl, Ann learned to play the piano, a talent she cultivated throughout her life. Valedictorian of her high school class, Ann had a lifelong love for learning and sharing her knowledge with others. A graduate of Young Harris College and the University of Georgia, she taught both 2nd and 7th grades in Georgia’s public school system before retiring to raise her family.
Ann was a talented seamstress and quilt maker, spending countless hours with her Singer sewing machine and her quilting hoop. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening and home decorating. She also had a passion for history and politics and was devoted to helping advance rights for the underserved. She was a strong supporter of Heifer International. But above all, Ann loved spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Elbert Mewborne, and twin daughters. She leaves behind three daughters: Melanie Mewborne, Melissa Butler and Megan Wandurraga; two sons-in-law: Mark Butler and Juan Wandurraga; and her three grandchildren: Zachary Butler, Hannah Butler and Georgeann Wandurraga who will all miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 10th at Cherokee Corner United Methodist Church in Arnoldsville, GA at 2pm. She and George will be interred together following the service at Arnoldsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heifer International in honor of Ann.
