Anthony was born on March 16, 1959, in Richmond, Virginia. His home church in Richmond was First Independent. He joined at a young age and surrounded himself with his church family. After graduating from Maggie L. Walker High School in 1978, he attended trade school and later built a dedicated 22-year career with MARTA as a Station Maintenance Agent.
Known for his impeccable style and presence—having even modeled in high school—Anthony had a deep appreciation for fashion, gardening, washing his car, and shopping. Above all, he cherished his role as “Poppy” to his beloved grandson, Jeremiah, who was truly the light of his life.
Anthony was a natural leader—outgoing, outspoken, loving, and fiercely protective of those he loved, especially his wife and daughter. Family was everything to him, he was a devoted brother and his presence brought warmth and laughter to every gathering.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Shelly; his children, Miles and Synclare; his treasured grandson, Jeremiah; siblings, James Jr. (Rhonda), Pamela, and Melody; mother-in-law, Barbara; his beloved aunti, Barbara; his devoted uncle, Willie (Camilla); and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, amongst them is his devoted cousin, Jeffrey.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna Hill and his brother, Terry.
A celebration of life will be held on Juneteenth, Thursday. June 19, 2025 6:30-8:00pm at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 6:00pm.
