She was born on February 19th, 1952, to Afkham Fatemi and Khanumtaj Rahimi in Tehran, Iran. She graduated high school in 1978 in Tehran and was encouraged by her family to study abroad, where she got her BS in Mathematics, Statistics & Computing from London University in 1974. She returned back to Tehran, where she worked for nine years at the International Iranian Oil Company, where she met her husband, Mahmood Alizadeh. They married in 1980, and her sons, Pedram and Parham, were born a few years later. In 1988, Behjat and her sons left Iran to visit the United States, and the choice was made to start a new life in the West. Mahmood joined the family in 1990 and settled in Marietta, GA. Their third child, Paristu, was born in 1992.
Behjat embodied the immigrant spirit and the American Dream: she raised a family, sent her kids to college, and pursued various entrepreneurial endeavors. She was a residential and commercial real estate agent & mortgage broker and started and ran a successful flooring company for five years. She loved her community and started a non-profit to educate the youth about the dangers of drug abuse.
Behjat remains, and will forever be, the cornerstone of her family as its matriarch. Infused with a perpetual smile, her unwavering optimism and spiritual essence guided both her and her loved ones through challenging times. Symptoms of ALS began surfacing in 2014, and she was formally diagnosed in late 2016. Even then, she reminded those around her that life should be cherished and celebrated. She spent her remaining years in Tehran, alongside her caring and loving husband. The two were a model of true love and friendship.
Behjat is predeceased by her parents, Afkham Fatemi and Khanumtaj Rahimi. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mahmood Alizadeh; her sons, Pedram (Claudia) Alizadeh and Parham (Atossa) Alizadeh; her daughter, Paristu Alizadeh; and her four grandchildren, Dylan, Alexandra, Aria, and Leila.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. Following the funeral service will be a burial following service at Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076.
