He attended Memphis City Schools and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1981, where he played in the marching band. After graduation, he attended DeVry Institute in Irving, Texas and became employed at United Parcel Service (UPS) in Dallas, TX. Ben's determination and business acumen allowed him to move up the ranks quickly and he became one of UPS's youngest managers in the Northeast Texas region. He realized the need to further his education and went on to earn his Bachelor's and Master of Business Administration degrees from Northwood University and Keller Graduate School of Management.
Ben reconnected with his high school friend, Sheila R. Baskerville. Their friendship blossomed and they were united in Holy Matrimony on November 30, 1985. To this union, two sons were born.
He made a career transition to FedEx and continued in transportation management where he emerged as an award winning sales manager. As a Regional International Sales Manager, Ben found his niche. He established business relationships in London, Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong, Spain, and in many other markets around the world. He served on the boards of directors of the New Orleans World Trade Center, the Florida USCS District Export Board, and the World Affairs Counsel.
He loved life: golfing, boating, cooking and grilling, tailgating at Atlanta Falcons' games, and spending time on his patio at home with family brought him joy.
He enjoyed worship and his supportive members at Eagles Nest Church. Ben will remembered for his unique personality which included nicknames for everyone he encountered, his strong work ethic, and his love for God and his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his adoring and devoted wife of 31 years Sheila, sons; Benjamin, Jr. and Jordan; mother; Feri Dean Jones; preceded in death by his sister Tiffany Denise Cooper Pipkin; four brothers; Lynn Jones (Patricia), Enicholas Cooper (Wanda), Vincent Todd Jones, and Marcus Jones; two sisters; Marva Renee Jones, Celena Jones; loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and extended family.
