Betty was born on February 16, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan, the sole child of William and Esther Colton. She graduated from Mackenzie High School in Detroit in 1941 and worked for Ex-Cell-O Corporation for several years. She married Robert "Bob" Diesing, whom she met at Mackenzie, in September of 1946. She and Bob then moved to Birmingham, Michigan, where Betty was a homemaker, deeply devoted to raising their two children.
Following Bob's retirement in the mid-1980s, she and Bob relocated to Florida, where they resided until moving to Roswell, Georgia in 2009, to be closer to family.
Betty enjoyed traveling with the love of her life. She and Bob travelled to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, South America, and the Far East. She also enjoyed playing golf and Bridge and volunteering at church. Best described as a "social butterfly," Betty made friends easily (never having met a "stranger") and enjoyed engaging people in conversation. Her top priority, though, was her family. She cherished family get-togethers, especially those that included her two granddaughters and her great-grandson.
Betty’s faith will remain an inspiration, and her friends and family find comfort in knowing that she is in Heaven with her Creator.
She is preceded in death by Bob and is survived by her daughter, Gail Kinney and son-in-law, Charles Kinney (both of Roswell, GA), son, Gary Diesing (Toledo, OH), granddaughters, Kristen Shore (Marietta, GA) and Laura Rowe (Cumming, GA), and her great-grandson, Alec Shore.
The family has planned a private service of "celebration," with a memorial service at a later date (to be determined). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the donor's charity of choice.
