Bettye Maxey Prescott of Roswell, Georgia passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2021 at the age of 79. She was born on February 15, 1942 in Sweetwater, Tennessee, grew up in Maryville, Tennessee and moved to Roswell in 1964. She is survived by her sons Tom Prescott of San Mateo, Florida and Sean Prescott and daughter-in-law Maggie of Johns Creek, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George, and their son William Scott, and her sister, Ann Quammen of South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
Bettye taught Physical Education in Dekalb County and Fulton County for 31 years and at Young Life Academy for 13 years.
Her church, her husband, her sons, and her teaching career and The Roswell Ramblers were the joys of her life. Having fun and laughter filled her days.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Roswell where she served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and participated in many other activities.
While teaching, she held offices in many clubs and professional organizations. After retirement she became involved with the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department. She served as President of the Roswell Ramblers Club at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center.
A memorial service honoring Mrs. Bettye Prescott will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, October 1, 2021 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Roswell.
In lieu of flowers Bettye has requested that donations be made to the Chancel Choir music program at First Baptist Roswell 710 Mimosa Boulevard Roswell, Georgia 30075 and Friends of Roswell Parks Recreation and Parks Department 38 Hill Street Suite 100 Roswell, Georgia 30075 for programs to provide camp or sport scholarships for deserving young youth.
