He was a loving brother to nine siblings and would often regale us with stories of his adventurous youth. Dad joined the Naval Reserve and continued to search for a career which he found at the age of 21 when he joined the Atlanta Fire Department. He distinguished himself and quickly rose through the ranks and was also invited to join the Freemasons. When the Fulton County Fire Department was formed, he carried over his reputation for excellence to help build this new venture. Through hard work and intense study, Dad achieved the level of Battalion Chief for Fulton County until his retirement in 1990. Though fire fighting was a passion not just a job for our father, he also met and married the love of his life Peggy Campbell and together they raised three children during his 37 year career.
His wife Peggy and his son Brian predeceased him, but Dad never went a day without missing them. He took great solace in his four grandchildren and playing/singing country music. Dad was respected for his honesty, admired for his work ethic and adored for his flirtatious and sparkling personality.
He is survived by his two children and their spouses- Billy and Tami Graham of Lynn Haven, Florida and Gail and David Clements of Alpharetta, Georgia. Dad also leaves behind his grandchildren – Mason Clements, Amanda Clements, Lindsay Williams (Nathan) and Stacy Graham. Grandpa was a blessing to us all and will live in our hearts forever.
