Mrs. Bobby Marlene ‘Nippy’ DiUmberto of Johns Creek, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020. Nippy, as she was known to close friends, was born in Cleveland, Tennessee, the youngest of four daughters to the late Thelma and George Jones. As a young girl, Nippy moved with her family to Miami, Florida. While attending high school, she met her husband Vinnie, and wed while attending University of Florida. It is not often you witness a pure love story, while Vinnie came to renew his vows in the Lord’s Kingdom, one year later on the day. Their love was often seen by all as they shared 66 years together.
As a young woman, Nippy had several successful positions while working for Eastern Airlines in Miami, Florida. She was a member of the Miami Springs Junior Wonen’s Club and led many philanthropic programs for the organization. One of the most notable was being chairwoman of the ‘Follies’, a stage production which raised monies for charity in South Florida. Like her husband, she was especially proud of their work with the March of Dimes in the furthering of that cause. As a loyal and loving wife, in addition to being a devoted and compassionate mother of two, Nippy always wanted to be around her family and especially attached to her grandchildren. Her family values were always top priority, rare in today’s world, and she exhibited love and provided an excellent example for them. She will always be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother as well as a friend.
Nippy will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by two children, Alan DiUmberto and wife Lisa of Greenville, South Carolina; Cassandra DiUmberto Allen Of Johns Creek, Georgia; four grandchildren, Wylie Allen, Alaina Newhouse, Vinnie DiUmberto and Ashley Allen; two great grandchildren, Leo and Isla Newhouse.; sister Betty Epperson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
