Bonnie was born in Washington DC to the late Veto and Gladys Robinson on April 13, 1941, which was Easter Sunday that year and she was the first recorded birth in the area to be born on that Easter Sunday.
She grew up in the DC area and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1957. She then attended Secretarial School and began her career as an Administrative Assistant with the then law firm of Schnieder, Ginzberg and Horowitz. She was quite progressive for the time having her own apartment and buying her own car which was a 1957 Hot Rod Blue Chevrolet with fins. In her leisure time, she enjoyed many happy weekends on the shores of Chesapeake Bay with family and friends.
In 1963, marriage to Herbert Reichelt, Jr. would take Bonnie to Millen, GA. The two made Millen home and raised their 2 children there. Herbert William Reichelt, III (Bert) and Catherine Reichelt Tieman. In Millen, Bonnie continued her career in various roles most notably working with Mr. Walter Harrison and the Jenkins County School System. She also enjoyed an active social life full of music and laughter with dear friends.
She returned to the DC area in 1985 and worked for USA Today. She eventually settled in the Salisbury, NC area in 1989. It is there where she met and married Joseph T. Harris, Jr. in 1991. From that union, she gained Joe Harris and Peggy Harris as stepchildren along with Drew Mekebak and Jake Harris as step grandsons. During her time there she worked for the Corporate Offices of Food Lion from where she retired. She and Joe shared a love for the outdoors and hosting parties for family and friends.
After the passing of her husband, Joe, in 2018 she relocated to Roswell, GA to be closer to her granddaughters Annie Reichelt and Grace Reichelt.
Throughout her life, Bonnie was an avid reader and trivia champ. She enjoyed Garden Club, crafts, and Bridge. She took great pleasure in swimming and one of her role models was Esther Williams, a competitive swimmer and actress. Camping and traveling also gave her great joy. She was a football fan of the Washington Redskins and the Georgia Bulldogs. And just like her personality, she loved bright and shiny things.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Veto and Gladys Robinson, brother Judson Wright, sister Peggy Misenheimer, niece Becky Zani, sister Odell Lynch, son Herbert Reichelt III (Bert) and husband Joseph T. Harris, Jr.
She is survived by her sister Judy Robinson Markowski (Gary), daughter Catherine Reichelt Tieman (Keith), daughter in law Liz Carr, granddaughters Annie Reichelt and Grace Reichelt, and beloved nieces and nephews Terri Deal (Keith), Melinda Daniel (Billy), Martin Lynch, Sissy Nickoson (Paul), Bonni Dawes and Vincent Sullivan (Alicia) who referred to her as FAB (Favorite Aunt Bonnie).
Her favorite hymn was “In the Garden” and all of those who knew her may take comfort in knowing that she is now with Him in the garden at peace and surrounded by love.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Roswell Funeral Home.
