Bryan "Buzz" Harry Ordway

After graduating high school in Fitchburg, Buzz enlisted in the Navy. He served as a Communications Officer from 1961 to 1965. During his service, he was stationed in Japan where he met his future wife Namie. They married in 1965.

Buzz then began his long and fulfilling career in the telecommunications industry with a move to Florida and a job with Southern Bell, then BellSouth, then AT&T. He moved to the Atlanta area with AT&T in 1990. He retired from AT&T in 2001. Never one to sit still, during his retirement he began working part time at a golf course, where he met many celebrities and pro athletes. He also enjoyed woodworking and home improvement projects, going to Lake Lanier, and spending time with family, especially his grandson.

Buzz was truly one of a kind. He was kind and loyal and proud, and would do anything for his family and friends. He was a true New Englander - a salt of the earth guy who loved to watch sports, crack jokes, tell stories, and enjoy life. He was the best husband, father and grandfather. He loved cherished time with his family and our beloved pets.

Buzz is survived by his wife of 56 years, Namie Ordway; his children, Matthew Ordway of San Francisco CA, Mia (Jim) McDonnell of Alpharetta, GA; grandson, Brendan McDonnell of Alpharetta, GA; his siblings: Jack (Dale) Ordway of Fitchburg, MA and Sally (Rod) Baker of Crystal Springs, MS; nieces and nephews: Robin Martin (Peter) of Southboro, MA, Kathy Baker of Crystal Springs, MS, Kevin Baker of Miami FL, Lori Dubose of Crystal Springs MS, Lisa Walker of Crystal Springs, MS.

A memorial service honoring Buzz and celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, April 10th at 1pm in the Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. Streaming will be available to those who are unable to attend via Zoom at:
