... Caren Beth Aderholdt Rowland
September 29, 1950 - September 11, 2015
Caren was at home with family, at peace, when God called her to be with Him. Many memories can be shared about Caren. Loved by family and friends and always doing what she could to help people feel loved and respected. Caren was energetic, compassionate, conscientious, and filled with Faith and Love. Her warmhearted and gentle way helped many people through difficult times. Caren’s dedication, caring and love for her Pre-School Handicap Children, their families and physicians was greatly appreciated by all that saw the benefits and quality of life in the children she supported. She genuinely understood and cared for others. Caren’s love for her mother, her sisters, her husband, her Pastors and Church Family and friends will always be with us in our hearts. Caren is one of God’s blessings, given to everyone her knew her.
Caren graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree, focusing on Special Education, from Appalachian State University, in Boone, North Carolina. She received her Masters Degree in Education from James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Caren lived in Roswell, Georgia with her husband George F. Rowland, Jr.. Caren was born in Hickory, NC, and lived her early years in and near there. Her family moved to Kingsport, Tennessee, became well respected in the community and attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Caren’s father, Charles Bernard Aderholdt passed early in her life. Her mother, Carrie Bernice Aderholdt was a Spiritual, Strong, Loving lady. She cared, nurtured and instilled her Love, Faith, and enduring qualities in Caren and her five sisters. Carole Beverly Aderholdt Lail, now in Hickory, North Carolina, Cheryl Bernadette Aderholdt Kunos, now in Findlay, Ohio, Catherine Bernice Aderholdt Harvey, Cydnie Barbara Aderholdt Bedford and Ceclie B. Aderholdt, living in Kingsport, Tennessee. A loving and close family, each with the same initials, C.B.A. Caren’s brothers-in-law, Andy Kunos, Mike Harvey and Jeff Bedford, Jesse Lail, sister-in-law Sandy Rowland Collins all supported and loved Caren. Caren loved and is loved and remembered by her nieces and nephews, Cydnie, Sam, Will, Charles, Dan, Jake, Clay, Joseph, Ellen and their families.
Caren went out of her way to visit, listen, learn about her family ancestors and laugh with her aunts and uncles. Virginia Sheperd and Vivian Wilson, living in Hildebran, North Carolina, helped Caren learn to plant, work and harvest large gardens, then canning the vegetables. They, along with her aunts Bobbie Clark and Carrie DeBacke, taught Caren to play an interesting, North Carolina lively verson of the card game Rook! When an elderly family member was sick, Caren was among the first to go to them, love and care for them, until they were on the way back to good health. Caren’s love and unending drive to help and care for people went far beyond her love for her family. For as long as she was able, she participated with those serving in the Soup Kitchen at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia. She continued serving our Lord and her church on the Altar Guild with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Alpharetta, Georgia. Caren enjoyed learning and participating in her Sunday School Class and Weekly Bible Study for as long as her health allowed. Caren truly lived her life, humbly serving as our Lord has taught. With love, faith, encouragement and compassion.
A Memorial Service for Caren will be held on October 4th beginning at 4:00pm in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 10250 Haynes Bridge Road, Alpharetta, Ga. A Celebration Gathering will be held in the Fellowship Hall after the service.
