Barbara, please accept my deepest sympathy. Carl was one of my favorite people - from the days of the transition from Columbus to Duluth, through his cheery phone calls reminding me of a retiree club meeting. He was one of the good guys! God bless you and your family.

My deepest sympathy to Barbara and family. Carl was by far one of my favorite engineers who I had the pleasure of assisting in the transition from Columbus to Duluth way back when. God bless each of you and hold you gently in his loving arms.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Carl's family and many friends. I met Carl at Rockwell International in Columbus (we were both in Bob Emmert's group) in 1977. I later worked for him when we were in Duluth, GA. He is the best boss that I ever worked for and was always a true friend. I will miss you, Carl!

To all of the Bates family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember his quiet manner, intelligent observations and lively eyes...and his enthusiastic support of his family's activities (Recitals, cantata trips, shared family parties on New Years Eve, so many nice memories). May you find strength in your memories and laughter among the tears.

I extend my deepest synpathies to all of Carl's loved ones. May God comfort, bless and guide you during this difficult time.
I had neither see or talked to Carl in over 30 years but my memories of him are the best.We sat desk to desk at North American Rockwell in Columbus for many of his 22 years there. Our engineering group enjoyed joking with each other and I always had fun kidding Carl about being a true "Buckeye". I would say; "Carl, you are a native born Buckeye! Against your will your parents foced you to go
over and live in PA with them but as soon as you were on your own you a beeline right back to Ohio".
Carl was a great engineer and a great guy and I'm sure all of the fellows in our group at Columbus wiil never forget him.
See ya later, Rodney!
