With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of Rebecca “Carole” Fisher (Nanny), who at the age of 83, entered heaven’s gates surrounded by her adult children on Monday, July 27. A woman of deep faith, strength, and grace, she loved her family. She leaves behind a legacy as vibrant as she was.

She was loving wife to Larry Wilson Fisher, her husband of 61 years; a proud and loving mother of three daughters- Melanie Fisher Rodrigue (Neal), Rebecca Fisher Exley (Jim), Holly Fisher Lee (Chris), and one son- Robert Wilson Fisher (Kelli); a doting Nanny to twelve grandchildren- Karlena Rae French (Hunter), Katelyn Rebecca Kohler, Natalie Exley Wheeler (Colby), Joshua Michael Kohler, Ally Wilson Exley, Wilson Frederick Fisher, Aubrey Lee Scruggs (Lewis), Phoebe Lane Fisher, Faith Catherine Lee, Mallory Gray Fisher, Hudson Christopher Lee, Quincy Belle Fisher; step-grandmother to Hayden Neal Rodrigue (Madi) and Kera Marie Rodrigue; great-grandmother to Troy Wellman “Wells” French, Walker Jane French, Landry Kate French and step great-grandmother to Chiara Marie Rodrigue. She is also survived by her sister, Janie Baldridge (Bill), brother in-laws Roger Fisher (Ginny) and Randy Fisher, three nieces and three nephews.

Born in Bowling Green, Kentucky to Aubrey Jewel Rather and Ruby Manning Rather on Sunday, November 1, 1942. Carole grew up in Bowling Green and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a teenager while attending Fairview Memorial Baptist Church. She attended College High, a one-room training school, and became a proficient pianist. After graduation, she attended Western Kentucky University for one year, then transferred to Morehead State University beginning her sophomore year. She earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration (1964) and Master’s Degree in Education (1966). While attending Morehead State University, she met the love of her life, Larry Wilson Fisher, and they were married on July 25, 1965. She began her career in Titusville, Florida teaching middle school math. She and Larry both taught there for two years before moving to Dayton, Ohio where she taught math and typing at Northridge High School for the 1968-69 school year. In August of 1969, she and Larry moved to Big Rapids, Michigan where Larry began his career in the farm machinery business, and welcomed their first child, Melanie Susanne to the world in October of 1969. Carole taught business math at Ferris State University from 1969-1972. Rebecca Lynne was born in 1973, and they moved to Columbus, Ohio where she left her career and devoted her time to raising their children. Holly Renee was born in 1974 and Robert Wilson in 1976. She finally got her boy, so decided the family was complete. In 1977, they moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania where the family experienced Amish Country, Carole played racquetball, took up tole painting and most summer days were spent at Skyline Pool with a cooler full of sandwiches and snacks. In 1983, the family moved to Dublin, Ohio, where she was instrumental in helping start the Varsity Swim Team at Dublin High School (Coffman). With each move driven by Larry’s career, Carole poured her heart into creating a warm and loving home, prioritizing her family and investing time in the activities that interested her children as well as taking time to develop friendships with neighbors and involvement in church. In 1987, the family moved to Rochester Hills, Michigan, then to Alpharetta, Georgia in 1991 where she spent time substitute teaching, tutoring algebra and geometry students after school, and for a number of years, watched three of her grandchildren after school each day. She was very active in neighborhood bridge groups in many of the places they lived, loved gardening, had the best green thumb and the most beautiful hanging baskets lined their deck railing each summer. She loved traveling and had the opportunity to experience many places around the globe including much of Europe, Japan, Australia, China, Thailand, Hawaii, Alaska, Argentina, Mexico, Canada, much of the U.S. and many cruises. Among her favorite places were Japan and the Bahamas.

Though she bravely battled Parkinson’s Disease the last 16 years of her life, she did not let it define her. She lived a life defined by resilience, without complaint. She was tiny, but mighty. She took deep pride in nurturing her family and investing in her marriage. She helped make holidays extra special with perfectly placed Hallmark ornaments adorning the tree, and Snow Village spanning the family room wall. Her memory was astonishing in both detail and taking interest in the lives of others. She was fashionable, always put together with hair quaffed and lipstick on. She had a quick wit, a bright smile and warm eyes. She could hear everything, even the softest whisper. She was present in the lives of her kids and grandkids, attending their activities at every opportunity. Family was everything to her. She was warm and inviting, making everyone feel seen and important. Her presence was grounding and constant. She was polished. She was tough. She was fiercely independent. She was absolutely one of a kind.

She is survived by a legacy of strength and leaves behind not just her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family, but also a blueprint for living with courage and grace. Though Parkinson’s had ravaged her physical body, she never stopped living, even to the bitter end. She loved life, and her spirit lives on in those she guided, nurtured and encouraged. To know her was to be seen, to be remembered, to be loved. Though the world feels a little dimmer now, may we carry her legacy with us, by fiercely and gracefully facing whatever challenge may come our way. May we smile with warmth in our eyes, and make others feel seen and important. May we prioritize family and extend the love of Christ to all.

VISITATION

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, Georgia.

CELEBRATION

A Celebration of Carole’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, Georgia. Reception to follow.
