

Carroll Smith Walraven (ShuShu) passed away peacefully at her home on the Chattahoochee River in the company of loved ones on April 28, 2014. ShuShu was born on April 16, 1949 in Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her father, the late Rankin McEachern Smith Sr.
She is survived by her mother, Miriam Wellman Smith, her husband, Jim English Smith, two sons and their partners, Wesley Merlyn Walraven (Carla) and Vergil Rankin Walraven (Rayna), and her grandson, Eli River Walraven.
ShuShu is also survived by her two brothers, Rankin Smith Jr. (Jill) and Taylor Wellman Smith (Deidra), her two sisters, Dorothy Smith Hines (Richard) and Karen Smith Berger (Joe), and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She graduated from the Lovett School in 1967 and attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
ShuShu was a very unique, strong minded, and talented person with a witty sense of humor, known to fearlessly walk the path less traveled. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. ShuShu was a passionate conservationist, farmer, architect, and animal lover. If you were her friend, you were her friend forever. She loved fiercely and unconditionally and was loved dearly by all of her large family and many friends.
For her closest friends and family, there will be a private celebration (casual dress) of her life on Wednesday, May 7th, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the home of her sister, Wawa Hines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sierra Club of Georgia (www.georgia.sierraclub.org), or a charity of your choice. Roswell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
