Charles started working for the Pennsylvania Railroad at age 14 and spent the rest of his career working in and around the railroad industry. Chuck was a proud graduate of THE Ohio State University, Go Buckeyes! Ultimately Charles retired as President of the Delray Connecting Railroad in Detroit, Michigan. Having lived in the Detroit area for 25 years, Chuck and Clara retired to Johns Creek in 1992.
Mr. O’Brien was raised in Columbus, Ohio where he met Clara Haueisen, love of his life. They fulfilled their dreams of travel by visiting all 7 continents accompanied by their children and friends. Charles had a quiet sense of humor and was known and admired for his calm nature and kind soul. But he was always ready for a party and cocktail! Chuck was a steady, loving presence for his three daughters and three grandsons, setting an excellent example of how to live a good life through his faith, love and dedication to his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters Debbie Baugher (Roger) of Johns Creek, Monna O’Brien of Chicago and Tami Hanlin (Bill) of Alpharetta and three grandsons, Brent Baugher, Blair Baugher and Spencer Hanlin. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.
Memorial services will be held at Perimeter Church 9500 Medlock Bridge Road Johns Creek, Georgia on August 3 at 11:00 AM.
