

Charles Henry Wilkerson III, (Buck) passed away on Wednesday, March 4th at the age of 70 from metastatic cancer. He was born on August 23, 1955, in Cherry Point NC. The son of Janice Lorraine Shipp and Charles Henry Wilkerson Jr. He graduated from Merritt Island High School, Class of 1973. He also attended Tennessee Tech, Cookeville, Tenn and University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. He enlisted in the Army December 1975 after acing the armed forces entrance exams and was designated a Hawk Fire control Crewman. He was honorably discharged July 1980 after completing additional reserve duty.
He began his professional life working for Computer Sciences Corp (CSC), a subcontractor to NASA at the Kennedy Space Center. Here he supported the fire control room and the space shuttle systems. He then started building a distinguished career as an Engagement Leader for Humphreys & Associates, Inc. He served as a scheduling and EVM consultant on nuclear projects for the military, and high priority contracts. Buck was an expert who helped write the book on scheduling and project management.
Buck cherished his role as a father the most. He was incredibly proud of his daughter Katie and was instrumental in guiding and supporting her educational and career goals. Buck traveled extensively both domestically and overseas, but his greatest joy was coming home to cheer Katie on in all of her sports and activities.
He was a big man with a big personality. Buck filled the room and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved being “Big Daddy” to family and friends alike. If you needed anything, you only had to ask. Buck had a partying spirit and loved entertaining, grilling, playing golf, target shooting and best of all cheering on his Florida Gators. He will be remembered for his clever and sometimes wicked wit and sense of humor. He did love a good joke. He was highly intelligent, opinionated and fiercely loyal.
His mother Janice Wilkerson recently passed last fall. He is survived by his loving daughter, Katie Wilkerson, brother Richard Wilkerson, sister Sandra Wilkerson Osbourn, nephews PJ Wilkerson, Commander Daniel Osbourn his wife Sarah and their children Henry Owen and Evelyn Clarie Osbourn, nephew Dustin Osbourn, niece Deidra Osbourn and former wife and Katie’s mother Lisa Shepherd.
A celebration of Buck’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at 3:00pm at the Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia 30076 with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Buck’s memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Atlanta Humane Society.
