Dave was born on December 19, 1950, to the late Robert and Velma McKinney. He graduated from Tucker High School before pursuing his passion for music at Florida State University, where he earned his Applied Bachelors music degree on trumpet.
Music was always at the heart of Dave’s life. A talented musician, he played with progressive rock band Pyramid Power in Detroit, Quebec and Toronto, Las Vegas show act Joe Savage and performed alongside Dennis Wise, a well-known Elvis impersonator, in Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe. His love of music and performing brought him many memorable experiences.
Dave later moved to Los Angeles, where he worked for Irvine Optical for 25 years. In 1998, he moved to Atlanta, where he became the General Manager of North American Bioproducts Corporation until his retirement.
Above all else, Dave will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a warm spirit and a deep appreciation for the people in his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved soulmate, Sandy McKinney.
Dave is survived by his brothers, Don McKinney (wife Donna) and Gary McKinney ; his sister-in-law, Lynn Dee Snyder (husband John); and his nephew Robert McKinney, (wife Megan) and their daughter Fiona, nephew Carlos McKinney, and niece Rosa Brown (husband Dawson) and their children, Celeste, Aurora, and newborn Luna Grace.
