Di was a cherished and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She was known for her many loves: family, longtime friends, pets, orchids, cooking, and a variety of other interests. She possessed a wealth of knowledge across many areas and enjoyed discussing topics ranging from home remodeling to books and nature. More than anything, Di loved family gatherings. From traditional Sunday night dinners to holidays and birthdays, each event was a celebration of family, and she wanted them to last forever. She was incredibly proud of her children and treasured each moment with them.
Di will be deeply missed by her husband of 40 years, Kerry; her daughter, Jenna (Chris Cox); her sons, Stephen (Cindy Averitt) and Alex (Elyse Forte and Emma); and Abby (our puppy). Di was also loved by her mother, Marion; her sisters, Donna (Rydzinski) and Debbie (Bill Meyer); and their families. Di was an aunt and cousin to many and had innumerable friends whom she greatly loved and cherished.
A memorial service will be held at Roswell Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1st, at 10:00 AM, to celebrate Di’s life and to honor her tremendous impact on family and friends. Following the service, at 12:00 noon, guests are invited to celebrate Di’s life at Upstairs at Rena’s, Rena's Italian Fishery & Grill, 240 South Main Street, Alpharetta, GA 30009. Instead of flowers, please consider donations in Di’s name to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University https://winshipcancer.emory.edu/give/give-in-memory.php or the Atlanta Humane Society https://give.atlantahumane.org/give/725862/#!/donation/checkout
Di’s departure from this world leaves a massive void in our hearts and lives. However, her impact will be felt for generations as her legacy of love and kindness endures through her children and their children.
