

Donald Norman Green, 77, died on April 9, 2017. He was born in Coshocton, OH on February 18, 1940 to Fred C. Green and Eleanor Nash Green. Donald was a resident of Johns Creek, GA. In addition to Ohio, Donald also resided in Kentucky, Colorado and Kingsport, TN where his five children graduated high school. 14 years ago, he moved to Georgia to be near his children and grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his five loving children; Angela (Randy) Strickland, Andy (Michelle) Green, Alex (Toni) Green, Annette (Landon) Cobb, and Alisa (Matt) Polli. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren: Scott, Joseph, and Katie Strickland; Isabella Decker, Addison and Charlie Green; Bradley and Kara Green; Preston, Chandler, and Ella Cobb; Lauren and Jack Polli. Additionally, he is survived by his brother James Green and sister Ruth Guptill.
Donald was preceded in death by his adoring wife of 52 years, Geraldine Glockner Green; his sisters Pearl Thompson and Sandy Vajda and infant brother Daniel Green.
Donald was a no-nonsense man who did things his way but had a heart of gold and a deep devotion to those he loved. He sacrificed for his family working long hours, often many miles from home, to make sure his wife and children had all they needed. While in high school and immediately after, Donald worked in his father’s coal mine in Coshocton, OH and then went on to spend more than 15 years in the mining industry. He loved telling stories of his days in the coal mines and was a proud supporter of the coal miner’s memorial fund in Coshocton, OH.
Donald’s other working endeavor was the professional dry-cleaning and laundry business. He owned his own dry-cleaners in Kingsport, TN for several years before getting into equipment sales. He eventually retired as an electrician in 2010. Upon retirement, he tirelessly cared for his wife who struggled with kidney disease until her death in 2015.
Donald was also a patriot having served in the Army for 2 years including an assignment at West Point, NY teaching cadets armored tank training.
Donald loved hearing about the successes of his children and grandchildren and took great pride in telling his friends and neighbors about his family. He was a devoted husband and proud father who will be deeply missed.
A funeral Mass celebrating the life of Donald will be held on April 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church in the lower level Adoration Chapel at 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022. Internment service will immediately follow at Green Lawn Cemetery 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. A reception will follow at Ray’s on the Creek, 1700 Mansell Rd., Alpharetta, GA.
