Donald Edwin Webb passed peacefully in Roswell, GA, on April 27, 2026, at the age of 92. Don born June 28, 1933 and had dreams bigger than most. As a young boy growing up in Heflin, AL, he did not want to follow in his dad's footsteps and work at the family's Webb concrete company. He wanted to fly and fly he did! Donald received his Bachelor Degree at Auburn University, his Masters at Southern Mississippi, and his Postgraduate at Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
Donald's dream of flying began when he joined the Marines. While a young pilot in California, he met his wife of 66 years, Patricia Ann Hillery. They were blessed with 3 wonderful DeAnne, Gary, and Erica. Donald flew many aircrafts. He especially loved flying helicopters. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross while leading a flight of two CH-46A and two UH-1E Helicopters. "Displaying exceptional aeronautical skill and resolute courage, Major Webb skillfully maneuvered his aircraft in to rescue the injured marines!"
After serving in the marines for 24 years to the rank Lieutenant Colonel, Donald and his family moved to Huntsville, AL, where he became the lead Test Pilot on the testing of the Hellfire Anti-Tank Missile.
After retiring in Roswell, GA, he enjoyed tennis and golf, and shot an 80 at the age of 80. Don and Pat enjoyed traveling on cruises with friends and having family over for Sunday dinners. He loved attending grandparents' days at the schools and was always proud to put on his military uniform and talk to his grandkids' classrooms on Veterans Days.
Don has flown one more time to heaven and is reunited with Pat again. We will miss him terribly, but all we have to do is look up and know he is at peace.
Don's spirit is carried forward by his beloved children DeAnne (Chip) Ackley, Gary (Dawn) Webb, Erica (Peter) Crivello, and the grandkids Skyla (Chris), Haley, Carter, Courtney, Adam and Maddie. He was predeceased by his mother, Hattie Lee; father, Garth Webb; wife Pat Webb; and brother, Bobby Webb.
We are extremely grateful to Don's caregivers (Kalala, Jayne and team) who took such wonderful care of him (and wife Pat) over the last few years.
Service to honor and celebrate the life of Donald Edwin Webb will be held on June 9th, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
