Dorothy Poole Tanner, 83, passed away from this earthly life on Sat, April 20, 2019. She was born February 18, 1936, in Ball Ground, Ga to Emery Dillard Poole and Frances Evvie Chambers Poole. She was the eldest of four children. The family moved to Decatur, where she graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School.
She married Luther Lee Tanner, Jr. of Atlanta and they had two children, Cheryl Elizabeth and Robert Lee. Dorothy enjoyed many activities, some of which included playing bridge, square dancing, cake decorating, sewing special clothes for her children, researching family genealogy, oil painting, traveling and collecting wild flowers.
Dorothy was a bright and shining star to all around her, lighting up any room she was in. She was kind and compassionate and always willing to help anyone she could.
Dorothy is survived by her two children, Cheryl Tanner McCulley and Robert Lee Tanner, and his wife Demi Mantis Tanner, sisters Elizabeth Stephenson and Betty Underwood and brother Larry Dillard Poole. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be held for friends and family Thursday, April 25th, at 11:00 at Westview Cemetery Abbey with graveside service to follow.
