Carolyn graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in Anniston, AL. She became a service wife after marrying US Air Force Officer Walt Atkins, and their union was blessed with two sons: Quentin and James.
After traveling as a military spouse for many years, Carolyn and Walt divorced. She then moved to Roswell, Georgia where she found employment and raised her sons. Her exemplary professional career spanned 35 years, beginning as a legal secretary, advancing to become Administrative Assistant before she blossomed into a highly esteemed freelance writer and editing professional.
An avid lover of knowledge and education, Carolyn obtained a Bachelor's degree in English Writing from the University of Colorado-Denver, a Master's degree in Professional Writing from Northern Arizona University and will be receiving her Honorary Ph.D. in Strategic Leadership from Liberty University.
As an accomplished writer and editor, Carolyn was thorough and precise. As a matter of fact, she would probably say “why don’t you write my eulogy now, so I can correct it.” Carolyn enjoyed road trips and weekend getaways and spent many years as a member of the Unique Corvettes of Atlanta, INC. club and the International Council of Corvettes club.
A woman of extremely luxurious taste, her satisfactions and enjoyments included exquisite mink fur coats along with a superlative jewelry selection as well as many rare hats, hand bags and shoes. To quote Carolyn directly, “My outlook on life is simple: Aging is inevitable, but getting old and stagnant is a choice. I choose to enjoy life by keeping my mind and body active.”
She was preceded in death by her mother, Exie (Ingram) Miller and her grandson, Gunnar Atkins. She is survived by her brother, Everett Ingram of Anniston, AL; her two sons: Quentin Atkins of California and Walter “James” Atkins III of Roswell, GA; grandson, Roman Atkins of California; Aunt, Wonder I. Osborne of Weave, AL, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The combined viewing and funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm on 13 NOV 2021, at the Roswell Funeral Home, followed immediately by the burial at the Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, Ga 30076. A Post Service Reception is yet to be determined.
