Edward John Mirynowski was born on November 5, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA to Alyce A. Mirynowski and Edward M. Mirynowski. He was the youngest of 3 brothers, Michael and James. Growing up he was in sales from the get-go, always trying to find a way to provide people what they wanted. His youth is laced with mischievous deeds among the heroic. He greatly valued the people he called friends. Always remembering even the most insignificant details to better connect with the people around him.
Age 6, first grade, was a pivotal year for Ed. He met his future wife, Maryjo. Their first date wasn’t until 8 years later, at the sock hop. Little did he know how that one dance would be the beginning to the greatest love story. Those young teen years also jump started his career. He worked at an Equestrian Race Track, Nursing Home and ACME Markets. ACME Markets is where he found his calling, food marketing. This passion lead him to study at St. Joseph’s University, full time in both school and work. What a surprise. Over his lifetime his work ethic spoke for itself. He spent a total of 46 years in many companies, wearing quite a few hats. The pinnacle of his career was being promoted to VP of NA Sales for WestRock Company. Those that worked alongside Ed can validate he loved his Job. He loved getting into the office before most and accomplished more in one work day than most in a week. He flew over 4 million miles with Delta, always posting for his team. Most of all he did this with integrity, compassion and drive.
Ed’s mantra was “How many hours in a week?” This question was asked more than a few times to his children. This question brought about his motto for life, you have to answer for the time you’re given, produce when you can, rest when you can and do not waste a minute of what you have been given. He took this motto into every aspect of life.
Ed loved good food, great wine and Frank Sinatra. When someone would cook for him he was grateful and appreciated the time they spent on the amazing meals they made. Ya’ll know who you are.
Ed was a man of many talents, an avid golfer, chief, Alabama football enthusiast, hosting weekend parties of all sizes, all of which included his infamous margaritas. Most of all he was known for living large. He was a man of many names, Husband, Dad, Big Ed, Superman, Myro, Daddy-O and many more.
Those that knew Ed could feel the love he had for his family, especially his wife. Maryjo was the light of his life. Meeting at 6, dating at 14 and marrying at 28. It is impossible to sum up their 33 years of marriage. The years brought about many changes, including the births of his children, 7 moves and life moving at a rapid pace. One of the constants through this time was the love he had for Maryjo. His eyes lit up whenever he saw her, always taking the time to appreciate all she did for the family.
Ed would want me to save the best for last. His faith. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and when given the opening he would talk about his love of God. Never complaining, claiming that we are all called for a greater purpose. Even in his last moments he praised God for all he has been given.
Though we are going to miss you we are at peace, because of you faith we know you are wrapped in a spiritual blanket of beauty that we cannot even comprehend. This is not good-bye, this is see you later. We all know where Ed is, now it’s time to ask his favorite question: “Where are you going?”
