

Edward Mitchell Jr. was born February 26, 1951 in Covington, GA to the late Edward Sr. and Mattie Laura Mitchell. He was the third child of six children. He was preceded in death by his sister Rosezell Ponder and his brother Willie Mitchell.
He accepted Christ at an early age at Upper Moses in Rutledge, Georgia and later attended Bethlehem Baptist in Covington, Georgia. He continued his spiritual journey at Watts Chapel in Raleigh, North Carolina. At the time of his death, he had been a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia since 1997. He was a dedicated member of Brotherhood of Praise, Marriage Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Senior’s Ministry, Atlanta Christian Curillo, Kairos Prison Ministry, Parking Ministry, Men’s Bible Study, and former member of the Board of Trustees.
Edward was an excellent student, graduating from Newton County High School in 1969. He continued his studies and graduated from Georgia Tech and Clark Atlanta University dual degree engineering program in 1974.
Upon graduation, Edward worked at Western Electric, AT&T, Alcatel, and Hitachi for over thirty years. After retirement he continued to enjoy working with cutting-edge technology.
Edward was an avid and talented golfer and he thoroughly enjoyed playing golf courses all across the country.
Edward is survived by his brother, Bruce Mitchell; and his sisters, Mary Wells and Lynda Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of thirty-five years Patilla Mitchell; his son, Steven Mitchell and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends.
A visitation for Edward will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life service at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 888 Zion Circle, Roswell, Georgia 30075. A burial & committal service will occur Friday, June 27, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Green Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076.
