Edward Allan Sanker passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on June 4, 2024. He was called home on his 76th birthday. Ed, also lovingly known to many as “Bud”, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was known for his kindness, humor, and musical talents, as he was a gifted guitar player and singer, performing music professionally for over 50 years.
Ed spent the majority of his career working for Honeywell, Inc., retiring after more than 35 years with the company. During his time with them, he achieved numerous honors and awards due to his hard work and dedication to his family and his job.
Throughout his life, Ed was not only successful in his career but he touched the lives of many through his music. He had a passion for playing guitar and singing. Ed started playing the guitar at the age of eight. Once he began, he was hooked. He spent his teenage years giving guitar lessons, playing in clubs, and eventually joined a band called Celebration when he was 25 years old. As fate would have it, Ginny signed up for guitar lessons in college and Ed was her teacher. Those lessons led to an almost 52-year marriage. Eventually Ed’s job led the family to Atlanta. Shortly after, Ed joined the Class Act Band and remained a member for 31 years. His ability to captivate a crowd, liven a party, and make people get up and dance through his guitar and singing abilities was like no other.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Ginny Sanker, children Jason Sanker and Julie Woodall, sister Beverly Benko, brother-in-law John Benko, daughter-in-law Kelly Sanker, son-in-law Christopher Woodall, and grandsons Bradley Sanker, Matthew Sanker, Ben Sanker, Preston Most, and Andrew Woodall, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Edward L. Sanker, mother Mary Sanker (Golick), and stepmother Jenny Sanker (Zak).
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 20, 2024 from 1:30 – 4:30 PM at Roswell Funeral Home to celebrate Ed’s life and honor his many contributions to our world.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Edward Sanker.
Ed’s departure leaves a void in our hearts, but His legacy will forever be cherished. He made the world a better place.
