Ed proudly served in the Navy for nearly 10 years, gaining an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal during his service.
Once completing his military service, Ed attended Memphis State. He then later worked for Bellsouth as a repairman for 30 years. He also spent time as a broker for Guardsman Reality.
Ed was a beloved husband and father. He was an avid golfer throughout his life. In his free time, he also enjoyed other outdoor activities like fishing and even gardening. Throughout his life, Ed maintained his faith and was a devout Christian.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents James and Ethel Smith. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Wynona Smith; daughter Rhonda (Chris) McCullough; grandchildren Kristen McCollough and Chris McCullough Jr.; great-grandchildren Logan McCullough, Elizabeth McCullough, Landon McCullough and Angelica McCullough. Ed also had nine brothers and sisters as well as many nieces and nephew whom his absence will leave a void in their hearts.
A visitation will be held on Thursday October 29th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Restoration Church; 410 Rucker Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30004 with a service to follow at 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum; 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell GA 30076 following the service.
