Erma Arias Perez

In recent years, Erma faced health challenges and never fully recovered after a serious fall last year. While our hearts are broken by her loss, as she was so special to us, we find comfort knowing she is free from pain and reunited with those who went before her.

Erma was born on August 4th in Houston, Texas, to Margarita and Asencio Arias. She was the youngest of eight children. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose love for family and friends was at the center of her life.

Erma never met a stranger. She had a way of making people feel welcome, and she will be remembered for her generosity, faith, devotion to family, and love of God. Through every health trial, she showed strength and determination. She truly was a fighter.

She loved giving her time to her church, the local church food bank, or wherever she could help. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that her family will continue to hold close and share.

Erma is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Manuel Perez; her children, Manuel Perez, Jr. and Margaret Smith, and Margaret’s husband, Elmer Smith; her sister, Joyce Garza; her sister-in-law, Maricruz Perez; her grandchildren, Christian Smith and his girlfriend, Ashley Deady, and Maria Smith and her boyfriend, Ben Werth; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the children of her lifelong best friend, Gloria Torres, who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents; six of her siblings; and her best friend, Gloria Torres.

A service to honor Erma’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home and Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia 30076.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Erma’s memory may make a donation to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation or the American Heart Association.
