Ernesto Romulo Uceda, aged 82, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. A beloved father, grandfather, brother and son. Born in Huancayo, Peru on October 4, 1942 to Anacleto Uceda Cordova and Maria Castillo Ruiz, he lived a life of purpose, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family.
Having mastered English in grade school and becoming well-known at the U.S. Embassy in Peru due to his frequent visits, Ernesto always dreamed of America. As a young civil engineer with an adventurous spirit, he traveled far from his Peruvian hometown, working on industrial development projects all across Canada and the United States. His entrepreneurial spirit later brought him home to partner with his brother Roberto, expanding industrial capacity throughout South America. But when Peru's "Lost Decade" brought hyperinflation, deep recession, and widespread social unrest, Ernesto and his beloved wife Norma made the most difficult decision of their lives—leaving behind everything familiar to give their children the opportunity of the American dream. They arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport with just two suitcases, Norma pregnant with their oldest child, but Ernesto came armed with English fluency and a sterling professional reputation built since the 1970s that would quickly open doors. That leap of faith shaped generations.
Ernesto was known for his eloquence, wisdom, determination, and infectious sense of humor. He instilled in his children the values of hard work and integrity, teaching them to always do the right thing, no matter the cost. He believed in them completely, becoming their biggest cheerleader alongside their devoted mother. His pride was evident when he spoke of his four children—"three doctors and a lawyer," as he loved to say with a proud smile—and his five grandchildren who adored him beyond measure.
A man of deep faith, Ernesto saw God's hand in life's smallest moments, often attributing these "tiny miracles" to God and Santo Domingo de Guzmán, his home town’s patron saint. He taught his children to always watch for those same small moments. He reminded his family that nothing—no corporate position, temporary pleasure, or worldly pursuit—was more important than spouse and children. He lived this truth daily, turning down promotions and travel opportunities that would take him away from precious moments at home. His investment wasn't just in their education or success, but in their character and souls.
Ernesto could speak eloquently about many things, often for hours, sharing wisdom gained from a life fully lived. Above all, he emphasized three pillars: faith in something greater than oneself, the primacy of family, and the pursuit of both financial stability and good health as foundations for serving others. His children have missed hearing his long talks and words of wisdom. They cherish each memory of all of his lectures now, and will be sure to pass on those same lessons to their children.
Ernesto will be deeply missed by his wife, Norma Mercedes Uceda, four children and five grandchildren: Anamaria Dominga Uceda-Weis, son-in-law Andrew Weis and grandson Mattias William of Roswell, GA; Patricia Dominga Klusmeyer, son-in-law Alex Klusmeyer and grandsons Theodore Ernest and Walter Harold of Alpharetta, GA; Domingo Ernesto Uceda, daughter-in-law Julie Uceda, grandson Apollo Domingo and granddaughter Mireya Dominga of Philadelphia, PA; and Mariaelena Dominga Uceda and son-in-law Steven Francomacaro of Washington D.C. He is survived by brothers Roberto Uceda Castillo and Carlos Uceda Castillo of Lima Peru. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anacleto Uceda Cordova and Maria Castillo Ruiz; sisters Alicia Uceda Revaz, Olga Uceda de Olivencia, and Hilda Uceda Harris; and brothers Antenor Uceda Castillo and Manuel Uceda Castillo.
A Funeral will be held on October 8th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 535 Rucker Rd Alpharetta, GA 30004 at 10 a.m. to celebrate Ernesto’s life and honor his contributions to our world. The burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery at 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta in memory of Ernesto. Ernesto’s departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his legacy will forever be cherished.
