Born June 29, 1927, in Lumberton, NC to Dr. Maurice Alexander Waddell and Mrs. Eva Oglesby Waddell.
She had one younger brother, Maurice Alexander Waddell, Jr. She grew up in Fair Bluff, NC. She was a graduate of Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, NC.
Evalyn was married to Richard (Dick) Raymond Pierce Sr. in 1951 in Fair Bluff, NC and lived in Charlotte, NC, where she was a devoted middle school teacher for 30 years.
She loved entertaining in her home and served in many community and civic organizations throughout her life. She was active in Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte where she was a member of the choir.
After retiring from teaching she and Dick moved to Mooresville, NC to live on their beloved Lake Norman where she remained for 30 years. In Mooresville, she was active in Mooresville Presbyterian Church. In 2014, she moved to Alpharetta GA. She and Dick loved to travel, making many trips abroad with the Appalachian State University Alumni Group.
Lynn had two children, Mr. Richard Raymond Pierce, Jr. (Anne) of Campobello, SC and Marianna Pierce Barton of Alpharetta, GA. She has three grandchildren, Michael Alexander Pierce of Virginia Beach, VA, Ashely Grace Velez (Oscar) of Woodstock GA and Ian Matthew Barton (Victoria) of Atlanta, GA
She has 6 great grandchildren, Grayson Pierce Velez, Ian Alexander Velez, Ethan Michael Pierce and Emerson (Emmie) Marie Pierce, Wesley Sean Barton and Landon Taylor Barton.
Lynn had one niece, Trish Sacco (Tommy) of Rock Hill, SC and one sister-in-law, Patricia (Pat Waddell) and one great nephew, Christopher Sacco.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Pierce in 1998 and her brother, Maurice in 2021.
She will be buried at Glenwood Cemetery in Mooresville, NC alongside of her husband.
Her family would like to thank Agape Hospice Care of Atlanta and Sunrise of Johns Creek ,GA for the love, care, and grace given to her in her final days.
