Fay Maria (Chin) Bethel, aged 80, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at home. She was born on June 15, 1946, to Wilfred Chin Fong and Elleta Campbell Chin (both deceased) in Kingston, Jamaica.
Fay was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She was known for the love of her children, her great sense of humor, and her passion for dancing and gardening. She is survived by her son, Col. Sean Sherwood, United States Army (and wife Malia Morrow-Sherwood); daughter, Cherylann Sherwood; grandchildren, Geordan Dorsey, Cpl. Julia Dorsey, United States Marine Corps, Kona Morrow-Sherwood, Eri Tanaka; and sisters Daisy Andrusik (and husband Dana Andrusik), Hope Kerr, Paulette Chung, and Alyse Chin (and husband Stephen Zulli). Fay is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Phillip Phang Kee, Dennis Chin Fong, and Michael Chin Fong, and her sister Icy Phang Kee.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Fay’s life on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 1 p.m., followed by interment at 2 p.m. and a repast at 3 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia.
