Born September 20, 1916 in Santiago de Cuba, over the course of his life Pancho lived in Havana, Cuba; Emporia, KS; Athens, GA, and Miami, FL. A licensed attorney at law in Cuba, in the United States he served in various positions, including as librarian at the University of Georgia and as Media Specialist for the Dade County Public School system. He retired from the Dade County Public School system in 1987.
Survivors include his three children Marisa Chaves of Rehoboth Beach, DE; Rosa Kirstein of Johns Creek, GA, and Frank Chaves of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kelley Kirstein, Matthew Kirstein, and Luis Luciano, his sons-in-law Bill Kirstein and Mark Reeves, and his daughter-in-law Chiqui Reyes-Gavilan. Pancho was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maria Isabel (Mone) Roque de Chaves.
