We were friends and neighbors in Marietta for years, often chatting at the mailbox when he was out walking his beloved best friend. We would go to dinner together and talk endlessly mostly about his family, whom he loved deeply. He was always kind and generous, and always had a smile. And he sure loved the Braves. We really miss him.

1 of the most loving, caring, good looking, with a heart of goal man I've ever known. You were a part of my life I'll never forget. Memories of the 4 of us together. The cars, the movies, the dinners, the piling on couches watching Charlie's Angels. The times you picked me up from work, took me to the airport, took me to lunch, you were always a gentleman, always a friend. Your concern for animals. RIP Doug, your footprints are forever embedded in this world and in our hearts.

Doug and his brother David were one of the first people I met when I was 13 and we moved to Eastpoint. Our families became friends and enjoyed dinners at each other’s homes, going out, and fun beach trips! Doug was always the most considerate guy and always had something nice to say. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about him. I am so happy that I got to spend some nice quality time with him before he passed. Suzanne made it so nice and easy to get together with Doug and I really appreciate the effort before he left us. Memories forever and love you Doug.❤️❤️❤️

I have known Doug for most of my life, starting with carpooling together to Arlington School in first grade and being in the same school with him for 10 years. He was always a very kind guy and excellent athlete. He loved sports at Arlington and was a huge fan and friend of Coach Christ for many years after graduation, He was also my neighbor in Marietta and we shared many years of seeing our kids grow up together. My deepest sympathy to all of his family at this time.

I am so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. He was a wonderful man . I last saw Doug at the Arlington reunion. He was as kind and sweet as always. I really enjoyed talking with him. The Arlington family has lost a very special friend. Prayers for the Cagle family at this very difficult time!

I remember Doug in school...from 3rd grade until high school graduation. He was a wonderful soul, a very good leader and a excellent athlete. Even though our ways parted, he was always a FRIEND. That says a lot these days. My prayers for comfort during this time of loss for the family. I picture him in heaven with other friends, family and classmates/teammates.

Rest in peace, Doug. You were a kind man, and one of the few people I've known who always had something good to say about everyone.
