It is with a mixture of deep sadness and profound joy for a life well-lived that we report the passing of Georgia Ruth Pearsall Stephens on April 13, 2024 at the age of 105. She was happy, healthy, and vital up until the last and passed peacefully and quietly in her sleep at home.
Originally from Baldwin, New York, Georgia had lived many post-retirement years in Florida and most recently in Cumming, Ga. To sum up an active, involved life always surrounded by friends and family is an overwhelming task. She always maintained that her greatest accomplishment was simply living a long time, but we who love her know better. She touched countless lives in her time with us and will always be remembered by so many.
Georgia was pre-deceased by her husband of 67 years, Edward Stephens. They both had a long history of working in the public school system. She is survived by her children Kathryn Brightman and her husband David, and her sons James and Robert Stephens, as well as by four surviving grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was sadly pre-deceased by two of her grandchildren, Daniel and Edward.
If a life is measured by the number of people we touch and influence, then certainly hers was extraordinary. She will be sorely missed but always remembered.
There are no current plans for a service, but a gathering will be arranged soon at The Oaks in Cumming, Ga. Where she resided.
