Born in New Millport, Pennsylvania on September 25, 1939, to late parents, Sylvan Tobias Bloom and Margaret Louise Bloom.
Gerald entered in the United States Army in July of 1959. He served his country as a Specialist 4th class of the 592nd Signal Company in Berlin, Germany. Receiving an Army of Occupation Medal and honorable discharge in 1965. Gerald began his career in telecommunications with Ohio Bell which later led him to his long career overseas with AT&T and his final role as Director of Logistics for Global Private Networks in the Asia/Pacific Region.
Gerald met the love of his life, Elizabeth, in 1978 in Tehran while working for the telephone company. They later left Iran together to return to the United States to get married. Spending many of the early years of their marriage overseas in both Egypt and Hong Kong, they and their daughter Mary enjoyed seeing the world together. A love that was inseparable, Gerald and Elizabeth spent over 42 years together, before her passing just three weeks before. The loved they shared could be felt by everyone around them.
After retirement, he spent over 20 years working at Bass Pro Shop where he got to share his joy for hunting and fishing with others. During this time, he was also able to spend his time doing what he loved the most in his fishing and hunting clubs. There he was lucky enough to make an amazing tight knit group of friends who became his extended family.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents Sylvan and Margaret, along with his loving wife Elizabeth Bloom.
He is survived by his brothers: Lanny Bloom (wife Bonnie) & family, Barry Bloom (partner Penny Meade) & family; sister, Bette Newsham & family; daughter, Denese Buemi (husband Joe) and daughter, Mary Bloom-Ott (husband Bryan).
