She was born to the late Claude and Ruby Poole on February 7, 1928 in Lula, Georgia. From her earliest days her love and focus was her family.
After attending college she worked for Swift & Company in Gainesville, GA. In 1950 she married Cary Reynolds and they resided in Gainesville, where he was a school principal. They moved to Doraville, GA in 1960, where Cary died of leukemia in 1963. From that point, Gussie dedicated her life to taking care of her two boys, Larry and Stanley. She went back to school for a short time and went to work for Greyhound Van Lines.
After her sons were older, she married Ben Scott, who preceded her in death in 1999.
Gussie was an active member of Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church and the Women's Circle group, where she made many beloved friends.
She valiantly lived her life to the end fighting through an increasingly weakening heart, and loved and honored her family until the end. Her dedication to God and her loving family are her greatest legacies.
Gussie is survived by her two sons and their families: Larry and Robin Reynolds, and Stanley and Catherine Reynolds, four grandchildren: Justin Reynolds (Jennifer) Kelly DeAses (Greg), John Reynolds and Alicia Bostic, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers and their families: Maxie and Betty Poole, and Wayne and Barbara Poole, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 24 at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. A graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park in Gainesville, GA, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church, 5918 Spalding Drive, Norcross, GA 30092.
