Henrietta "Grammy" Anna Gorter

September 4, 1938January 3, 2020

Mrs. Henrietta Anna Gorter, 81, of Roswell, Georgia passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday January 3, 2020. She was born on September 4, 1938 in Hackensack, New Jersey, the daughter of the late James and Anna Williamson.

Henrietta married her husband George on July 24, 1965. She was blessed with two children, a daughter Deborah and a son George. She was an amazing woman, who was passionate about food, travel, and learning. Though some of her favorite escapes were to the mountains and the beach, she was always ready for her next adventure! From zip lining in Costa Rica, to hiking the Great Wall of China, to visiting polar bears in the Northern Tundra, to seeing the kiwi birds in New Zealand, she loved experiencing new cultures and exploring God’s creation.

Henrietta “Grammy” was the most incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family selflessly. She also had an energetic, youthful, and generous spirit with a joy and zest for life. She lived life to the fullest! Her outstanding wit, humor and vivacious presence touched everyone who met her. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

Along with her parents, Henrietta is preceded in death by her husband George. She is survived by her loving children Deborah (and husband Rob) and George (and wife Robin), her brother Art Williamson (and wife Angie), her grandchildren Josh (and wife Caitlin) and Alisa (her kindred spirit), and her great-granddaughter Hadley Anne.

I just loved sharing lunch with this sweet unassuming lady after Golden Age Club meetings. We talked about dogs and she said she would rather have big ones so she didn't trip over them! She was a hoot!
