

Mr. Herbert Silverman, age 87,of Atlanta, GA, was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 2, 1939. After spending the majority of his childhood growing up in Jersey City, "Herb" or "Herbie", as he was affectionately known to family and close friends, spent one year of high school in Miami Beach, FL before the family moved back to Jersey City. Herb attended the Citadel for two years and then completed his collegiate studies graduating from Farleigh Dickinson University. He also served in the Army Reserves.
He met his wife Helene on a blind date. They were wed May 8, 1966 and were married 56 years until her passing in 2022. They lived together in New Jersey for a time, and then moved to Davie, FL where they lived for over thirty years raising their family. They moved to Braselton, GA in 2009 to be closer to family and then most recently resided in Sandy Springs.
Herb is preceded in death by his mother Helen Parness Silverman and his father Isadore Bernard Silverman. He is survived by daughter Susie Fages, son-in-law Jeff Fages, grandchildren Bram and Jillyan Fages of Dunwoody, GA, and son Bruce Silverman, grandchildren Logan and Ethan Silverman.
He passed away July 19, 2026.
Herb had a zest for life. He was always armed with famous one-liners. He loved to engage with people and never met a stranger. He loved to paint and was active playing tennis, golf, pickleball and bowling. He loved spending time with friends and family entertaining, grilling, and laying around his pool in the sun. His biggest loves were his family and grandchildren and he will be greatly missed.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22 at 10:00 am at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA. Shiva observance will begin at 5:00 pm with a service at 6:15 pm at Congregation B'nai Torah in Sandy Springs.
