Jack Tyler peacefully passed away on September 21, 2018. He is survived by his father Bernard E. Tyler, his sister Debby McIndoo and husband (Jim) and his brother Terry Tyler and wife (Valerie). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews including Casey Crossan (Bryan), Tyler Cook (Travis), Robert Tyler (Kera) and Jarrett Tyler. Jack’s mother, Beth Tyler, preceded him in death in 2011.
Jack was born in Bremen, Indiana and enjoyed his early years there. He loved the animals on his grandparents’ farm and spent much of his time playing with his many cousins roaming the cornfields and woods surrounding the farm. The Tyler family moved away from their hometown while Jack was approaching his teens first to Terre Haute, Indiana and later to Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, Jack graduated from high school and went on to be graduated from the University of Georgia with an accounting major.
Upon graduation from college, Jack moved to Greenville, South Carolina to work for Daniel Construction Company (later to become Fluor Daniel Construction). Jack would travel the world for the next 35 years for his Company, including remote areas in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Sakhalin Islands of Russia to name a few. His employment involved relocation for the Company to Birmingham, Alabama, Richland, Washington and back to Greenville, South Carolina. Jack made many good friends in all these places. Although he loved Richland, especially the people and all the outdoor activities; his first and last home was Greenville, South Carolina. Jack loved animals all his life and adopted rescued dogs for several years. Jack had great friends and many of these friends cared for Jack when he needed their help after discovering he had a rare disease PCA (a form of Alzheimer) for over 10 years. The Tyler family would especially like to thank Maryann Kessler and her caregivers who tirelessly cared for Jack through the last years of his life.
The Tyler family will host a Celebration of Life for Jack on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Barley’s, from 4 pm to 6 pm.
The family also requests that in lieu of flowers offerings in Jack’s memory be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of Greenville, South Carolina or The Lucky Pup Rescue SC.
