It’s been 6 months since you left this world to rest in your eternal peace. It’s a painful feeling knowing that this year I cannot call you like I do every year so that your Grandsons and I can see your smile and wish you a Happy Father’s Day. I know you were the proudest grandpa and father when you could finally celebrate and say that back to me 6 years ago. But I know you are wishing me Happy Father’s Day from Heaven. We miss you and love you Dad. 

Dad kept this multitool on him for many years. He would carry it around everywhere with it holstered to his belt always at the ready. Whenever the opportunity popped up, you would hear the piercing sound of the Velcro holster ripping as he readied his trusty Gerber to do battle with whatever needed just a little fixing. Dad was always fixing things, and he used this tool with many projects both large and small.

Prayers for the family. To know or to have met Jackie was an honor. Such a kind man. Hard working and thought and spoke so highly of his family. I met Jackie 11 years ago ehen I started at Print pack and whenever you saw Jackie he always had a big smile and kind words. He will be missed...

One of the most valuable relationship is having a friend.  Being a friend and having a friend is what Jackie and I have in common.  We don't take it for granted and we allow each other their space.  I honor our relationship and I live, learn, laugh and love from it. I'm lucky we equally bond with that.  Jackie, a inspirational and motivational person, please rest in peace that you have touched so many lives.

Jackie is a man of high work ethics and a proud father and husband. I have had the honor to work along side with Jackie for almost 10 years. Everytime I moved to a new office, he made sure everything was setup to perfection. He and I spoke Cantonese. Talking to Jackie, reminded me of home and my family. He told me many stories about the family. He was very very proud of his children's accomplishments. He shared pictures of his grandchildren with me. I am going to miss Jackie. Please accept my deepest condolences. 


I was very sad to hear about Hong’s passing — he was an amazing person and left a positive impression on me as a young child.  We spent a lot of time together as family and friends when he first moved to Georgia, and today I often reflect on how incredible Hong was in leading and caring for his family.  Always energetic, fun and very engaging, a fond memory I recall was the Sunday he treated my family to our first traditional Chinese family meal.  That beautiful lunch was a celebration and now a memory that I will always cherish. I constantly witnessed Hong’s great love of family, friends, and laughter. He in turn was loved by many including my parents, John and Anne Buck. My Dad always spoke fondly of his friendship and experience getting to know Hong— he deeply admired his work ethic, persistence and held great respect for him.

I had the sincere pleasure of meeting and working with Jackie while at Printpack Inc. During that period, I came to know Jackie as an individual of integrity, a strong work ethic, and someone who never met a stranger. Whenever we encountered each other in the building we’d render a salute (as we both had a military background) to each other. I affectionately called Jackie ‘The General’ (although that wasn’t his military ranking, it was my way of acknowledging Jackie’s incredible service to this country), and Jackie in return called me ‘Private’ (as I would often reply at least promote me to the ‘Captain’ rank). 

Today, I thank you for your friendship!

Today, I salute you one last time!

Jackie and Tammy were part of our lives since our son Connor was born in 1997. They were there for us to  baby sit not just our son, but also 2-1/2 years later they lovingly watched our daughter Julia too. 

Our kids were loved and always enjoyed being with Jackie, Tammy, David and Alvin…and of course their menagerie of pets. My wife Carolyn and I can never express how much we love the Lu family and for their watching over our own children. 

They allowed us to work and know our kids couldn’t have been in better hands! 

Heroes like Jackie who fought for freedom and against the evils of communism are proof there is still good in this world. Jackie was incredibly proud of his service during the Vietnam war and loved the United States. 

May his incredible life be an inspiration to those who were blessed to know him, and he will be missed, but never forgotten. 

He is truly one of the most amazing people we have ever known, we are so sorry Tammy, David and Alvin for your loss of such an incredible husband and father.

Though I lived far away from home, in the last few years, I was so lucky to come home so often. Whether it was for holiday, a big event with the family, or one of the many visits when I made recruiting trips at Georgia Tech. On one of those trips we got a little snowed in, and my dad and I built a snowman! He worried about my hands getting too cold and told me I needed to wear some gloves. I grabbed a carrot for the nose and he cut a little bit to give a little snack to the turtle later too. He was always thinking of others in everything he would do. For him it didn't take much effort, it was just who he is. I will be missing you for Christmas this year dad, but I will have you in my heart.

I met Jackie 28 years ago at Printpack, and my first impression was "here's a guy who wants to get things done!" Jackie helped me in numerous ways during our Packaging Institute weeks, always had a solution to my problem! Jackie was a real positive contributor to the culture of Printpack, of which we are proud...he will be sorely missed! Blessings and peace to his family during this time...Lou Duckwall

Jackie and I worked together for many, many years at Printpack (approx. 18 years).   I am so very sorry to hear the news about him.  Jackie was an amazing Father, Husband, and Friend.  He taught me so much and he holds a special place in my heart.   I will miss Jackie but I will NEVER forgot how he impacted my life.  He was a man of solid principle and led by example.  I learned so much from Jackie throughout the years working with him. I can only hope to be half as good and giving a person as he was. He will be missed! I worked with Jackie at Printpack.  He was a hard worker and always had a smile and great attitude.   I was proud to call him my friend.  Jackie will be missed.  Condolences and prayers for the family.

Dad’s had a picture collage that he kept prominently on display in our living room. It was always great, especially during the second half of my life where I spent my life living away, often quite distanced, from the house I grew up in, seeing a few new pictures added to the board of his most cherished memories. My dad loved reminiscing on his beloved memories and telling the stories of his unique life, both the good and bad. He never regretted anything, and he would say that although he lived the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, he wouldn’t change a thing. 

As we look ahead to Christmas this weekend, I am reminded of one of my favorite memories of my dad. I must have been something like five or six years old.  My dad was doing everything he could on his third attempt to “build his life from zero”, and we were quite poor at the time.  I didn’t get to see my dad much during this time as he had to work the Night Shift to make the overtime to afford a decent life for our family. I did not ever remember receiving a new toy in my life at that point, and my dad always told me he was sorry he could not afford to do so. My favorite toys were the broken sets of ninja turtle figurines that we found in a donation pile from our neighbors and other toys that others were giving away. One Christmas, as my brother and I were waking up from the floor that we usually slept on, I was very surprised to find a wrapped present in my room. It was laid next to my head, as it was only later in my adolescence that a plastic Christmas tree was donated to our family. To my surprise, it was a brand new toy train set. It was motorized, had lights, and made music, so it was certainly the nicest toy I had ever received. Most special was it was new in the box. When I asked who got me the present, he told me it was Santa Clause. At that time, I had already stopped believing in St. Nick, but I played along and acted like I had been convinced.  Deep down I knew that he had worked extra hard that year, to save up enough extra hours to purchase me my first new toy. What surprised me was that although I knew it was from him, he would never admit that he got it for me. That was who he always was - the selfless father that would do anything for anyone without any desire for anything in return.  He  gave all that he could to give others a better life. He always put others first before himself. This was his character until the day he died.  He was the righteous man that anyone would hope to ever become.  He brought joy into the world. He was my Santa Clause. 

Jackie was our neighbor.  We are at a loss for word on hearing of his passing.  When we talked, he always mentioned his boys.  He was very proud of them.  He loved animals… dogs, birds and even a female African tortoise.  My daughter loved taking the figs from his fig trees and she shared her vegetable garden with him.  Please let us know if you need anything.  We are so sorry for your loss.  He will be missed.
