He is survived by his children, Lisa Occhipinti, Spencer Gunkel, and Melissa Naleway; his grandchildren, Drew (Riley) Occhipinti and Daniel Occhipinti; and other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn; his parents; brother, Dennis Gunkel (Sharon); and sister, Cheryl Bell (Timothy).
Jim lived in Roswell, Georgia, where he was a dedicated volunteer in his neighborhood community. He served as HOA Board President for ten years and was a founding member of the HOA book club. He enjoyed hosting meetings in his garden and encouraging others to get involved. He was also active in local civic matters and believed strongly in grassroots participation.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 PM at Green Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum.
