Born on July 15, 1959, to Dr. William Baird Hudgins Sr. and Esther Sewell Smith, Jim was a lifelong resident of Atlanta—a devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his selflessness, generosity, and kindness toward all who knew him.
A proud graduate of the University of Georgia, Class of 1981, Jim earned a degree in Economics and loved nothing more than cheering on the Dawgs every fall Saturday. In 1994, he founded Stone Ridge Capital, his commercial real estate business, where he poured his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication for more than three decades.
Jim’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his two children, Ross Hudgins of Atlanta, Georgia, and Alexa Davis of Charleston, South Carolina; his brothers, Bill Hudgins and Jeff Hudgins; his son-in-law, Kevin Davis; and his son’s fiancée, Holly Northey. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends who will deeply miss him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Ebenezer Methodist Church, located at 12900 Arnold Mill Road, Roswell, Georgia, to celebrate Jim’s life.
