Mr. Gary Jarabek, age 80, of Marietta, GA, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Gary was born on March 30, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio, only child of the late James George Jarabek and Marie Simon Jarabek.
Gary graduated from Western Reserve University and joined the Ohio National Guard, initially working in the garment industry. He later owned his own business and ultimately retired from the Westinghouse Savannah River Plant as the Assistant to the Director. He began his hobby of model railroading as a child and had an amazing model railroad layout that appeared on the Atlanta Piedmont Division Model Railroad Pilgrimage many times. He was recently honored with the President’s award for Service by the National Model Railroad Association for his dedication. He also loved sailing, gardening, playing with his devoted Golden Retriever, Daisy, and spending time with his grandchildren. Gary was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend; he will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jarabek; two daughters, Brooke Jarabek, husband Colin Cassidy of Alpharetta, GA, and Kirsten Franklin, husband Burt, of Johns Creek, GA; five grandchildren, Hannah Franklin, Ethan Franklin, Grace Cassidy, Craig Cassidy, and Brenna Cassidy; niece Heather Noonan, husband Brian; two children, Bailey and Noah.
A Celebration of Life honoring Mr. Gary Jarabek will be held at two-thirty in the afternoon on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in the Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. A reception with the family will follow.
