As a fellow model railroader new to the NMRA's Piedmont Division in the early 2000's , Gary was the first members I recall meeting. His "welcome aboard" greeting was genuine and much appreciated. In years that followed we enjoyed group lunches, visiting one another's model railroad layouts and always having a good time. Phone calls shared most often had to do with Division matters while we served on its Board of Directors. One year I was solicited to help Gary and his small team organize the annual Piedmont Pilgrimage. Immediately apparent was his dedication to maximizing its success, not an easy task and only one of many he voluntarily took on tirelessly year after year. Thank you, Gary. God bless you and your family and may you rest in peace.
