James was happily married to his wife for 51 years. He was very happy working in the yard and certainly loved tinkering around the house. He was retired from the Army as SFC, and was a Core of Engineer’s and received his GED in the Army.
Preceded in death by his father; George Fortress, Mother; Neva Fortress and Brother, Devon Matthewson.
Survivoirs include, his Wife; Deborah Matthewson, Daughter; Connie Macklin (Randy Macklin) Brother-in-law; Buddy “John” Johnson (Brenda Johnson) Sister; Patricia Edwards, Bother; George Fortress (Laura Laurie), Grandsons; David Mackin (Jessica), Trayte, Mekenna, Eythen and Emma. Grand Daughter; Enick Mackin, Alexis and Taylor and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for James will be held Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, Georgia 30114.
