

James Ronald Sattele (Ron, Poppop), aged 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, after a brave battle against cancer. He was born on January 4th,1944, to George Jerome Sattele and Madelyn Concetta Fiore Sattele in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Ron was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, partner, neighbor, and all-around amazing human. He was known for his incredible generosity, larger than life personality, and his dedication to his wife of 60 years, Gerry, and his family and friends.
Throughout his life, Ron achieved many accomplishments in “Garbology,” Commercial Real Estate Development, and Fantasy Football (reigning champion). He touched the lives of countless individuals through coaching girls’ and women's basketball at St. Pius X High School and Oglethorpe University as well as his role as President and ad hoc Social Chairman of the homeowner's association on Oyster House Road.
Ron will be deeply missed by his wife and great love, Gerry, and extensive family tree, including:
Sister Lyn Foster and niece Heather Matteri (husband TJ, great-nieces Ellie, Tessa, and Tamsin)
Daughter Georgia Sattele Bickel and grandchildren John (wife Alyssa), Henry (wife Jamie and great-granddaughter Lorelai), Peter (wife Morgan and great-grandson Baker), and Madelyn.
Son James Ronald Sattele Jr (Ronnie) and grandchildren Kathleen (husband Chris), Abbey, and Bridget.
Daughter Lea Sattele Madren, husband Ken, and grandchildren Chip, Jack (wife Jenna and great-granddaughter Macie Jane) and Bret.
Daughter Gerri Sattele DiCarlo, husband John, and grandson John Fox.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Jerome Sattele, Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January, 4th, 2026 in Roswell, Georgia, to celebrate Ron's life and honor his contributions to our world. Details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association or Chip Nation (details to follow as well).
Poppop's departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his legacy will forever be cherished. We all aspire to be the people he wanted us to be.
