James Edward Spence died early on Monday morning the 9th of May 2016 at the age of 74 in his nursing home. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991 and lost his ability to walk in 2002. He had been putting up a good fight to stay with all he loved especially doing the hardest battle the last two years. James was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved being outdoors. He had planned to be a Park Ranger if only his wife Toni could have just been able to put enough weight on him with those raw egg milkshakes. He was a graduate of O'Keefe High School in Atlanta Georgia and was a welder by trade. He would always remember to save a part of his lunch from his work day for his daughter. She will always remember looking into the little brown bag her mom had packed for her dad to see what surprise her dad had saved from his lunch just for her. Throughout his life this was a man who might not have had a lot of material things but he created the most joyful experiences and shared it always with those he loved. He also stood up for those who were considered the underdog and didn't mind voicing his opinion. Those closest to Eddie might call him, the guy who would give the shirt off his back. Eddie had mentioned to his daughter when she and her son, who were visiting a few weeks ago, about how proud he was of his grandson. He said what a good young man he had grown into and how much he loved him and his daughter and how sweet she was to him. Then he said you both made my day by coming today and his daughter said you made our day Dad by letting us spend time with you. His daughter couldn't help but cry tears of joy while watching her son help her Dad by shaving his beard, trimming his beautiful grey hair, and sometimes cutting his nails. Then watching their loving kisses on the cheek, big hugs, and telling each other how much they loved each other. Believe me blow kisses could be heard out the door, at the window, and even seen out of the rolled down car window, whirling around the corner. Just to let him know just how much they both loved him and appreciated him being in their lives. There has been many close calls over the past several years and they always felt he never gave up and always looked ahead to the good times and smiles they would share together! Maybe, he was just fighting to stay because they wanted and needed him to stay, for all his love and hugs which will never be forgotten and still felt strongly in all their memories of the special moments they were sharing together. We miss you dearly sweet, kind, and gentle man and will look forward to another joyful reunion with you on the other side when it is our time to soar free from our bodies and once again be re-united as pure souls never parted. Love to you and blow kisses always-Your loving family........
