James "Jimmy" Bassett Yanulavich II

Jimmy was a beloved brother and uncle. He was simply the best. He was known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, dependability, and his young at heart energy. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it be cheering on the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park every Friday night home game with his family, playing a round of golf, running a countless number of miles, or building sandcastle cities at the beach with his nephew and niece.

Jimmy worked for the City of Roswell from a young age, serving in many roles such as score keeper, umpire, and camp counselor. After graduating from Mars Hill University, Jimmy returned to Roswell, working for the City of Roswell for almost 25 years. He currently served as the Administrative Services Manager for Roswell, Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department. He attained the Certified Park and Recreation Professional certification. He was recognized as employee of the year in 2010 and won the Jeff Pruitt Creating Community Award in 2020. You would be hard pressed to find anyone in Jimmy’s department that he had not done a favor for or helped out.

He will be deeply missed by his sisters Jennifer Yanulavich and Jessica Barker, his nephew James Oakley Barker, his niece Elyse Barker, his brother in law James Barker, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Bassett Yanulavich, and his mother, Linda Elyse Yanulavich.

A visitation for Jimmy will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM to honor Jimmy's life and honor his contributions to our world.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Atlanta Braves Foundation in memory of Jimmy. Jimmy often purchased auction items at Braves games to support the foundation. The Atlanta Braves Foundation support of youth seems appropriate.

Jimmy's departure leaves a hole in our hearts. He will always be remembered and cherished by those who knew and loved him.
