

James was a graduate of Edina-Morningside High School and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962.
Following his military service, James built a successful career with Borg Warner/ Transamerica Financial Services and retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Outside of work, he greatly enjoyed playing golf and traveling overseas to London.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Known for his kindness, warmth, and sense of humor, he treated everyone he met with respect and goodwill and was often described as someone who never had an enemy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Suzie Young.
James is survived by his daughter, Randi Lee, and her husband, Bobby; his grandchildren, Zach and Zoe; and his brother, David Young and his wife, Barb.
Visitation will be held on January 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place immediately after the service at Green Lawn Cemetery. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life.
